What we have learned about this county

Denver Health's main campus is a multi-pavilion superblock, not a single front door. The address everyone books is 777 Bannock St, but the ED and urgent care walk-in entrance is through Pavilion A, on the circle drive off Delaware Street between 6th and 8th Avenues. Valet is at the Outpatient Medical Center (Pavilion L) at $5 per car, Monday to Friday only, drop-off 8am-4pm and pick-up 8am-8pm, with security holding keys after 9pm. Free self-parking is the Delaware Garage (P2) on Delaware between 6th and 8th, and the Outpatient Medical Center garage (P4). Crucially for dialysis runs, the Fresenius Pavilion Dialysis unit is inside that same complex at 723 Delaware St, Suite M105 — a driver routed to 777 Bannock has landed a wheelchair patient on the wrong street, on the wrong side of the block.
Uptown crams two large hospitals onto the same two blocks of East 19th Avenue: Intermountain Health Saint Joseph at 1375 E 19th Ave and HCA HealthONE Presbyterian St. Luke's at 1719 E 19th Ave. P/SL is worse than a name collision — its emergency entrance is not on 19th at all but around the block at 2001 N High St, its main patient and visitor entrance is at 20th Ave and High St, and its surgery entrance is near Franklin St and 20th Ave, open 5am-8pm. From 8pm to 5am every arrival has to come through the ER door. HCA HealthONE Rocky Mountain Children's shares the same campus. Several separate doors, one mailing address.
Downtown Denver is specifically hostile to a high-roof wheelchair van. The central grid is rotated off the compass because it was platted parallel to the South Platte and Cherry Creek, so the one-way pairs do not read as north-south or east-west. 16th Street is a pedestrian and transit corridor — it reopened in October 2025 with transit lanes down the centre and the free RTD shuttle restored — so a 16th Street address has to be worked from a cross street on foot. And the garages are posted low: Independence Plaza at 1601 Curtis St and the 1635 Stout St garage both cap vehicles at 6 feet 8 inches, well under a raised-roof conversion. National Jewish Health at 1400 Jackson St states outright that no parking is available on its campus for oversized vehicles such as RVs — so on that campus the plan is valet drop and roll, not park and walk.
